LLT’s approach to training teachers is hands-on. Every participant receives coaching from Renee and Philip and other extraordinary LLT-trained teachers. The facilitators pay attention to each student’s and each group’s progress. Therefore, to some degree, each training is customized to each student and each group.
As a result, many of Philip and Renee’s trainees have gone on to become successful yoga teachers, studio owners, and yoga-industry related professionals.
The LLT Approach:
VINYASA. LLT studies vinyasa breath-by-breath. This precision means you will be skilled in tension and release, precise timing, listening, seeing, and powerful transitions. These techniques enable you to teach not only vinyasa – but most yoga styles – at the highest levels.
SCIENCE. LLT is committed to teaching the science behind yoga. Philip has taken graduate classes at Harvard to learn more about yoga’s mechanisms of change and its potential to help students with anxiety and other illnesses. He and Renee are continually identifying yoga class practices that have evidence-based therapeutic value. Knowing how these practices work is a source of confidence for teachers.
COMMUNICATION. The primary communication tools of a yoga teacher are words and intonation. LLT challenges teachers to speak when needed, on time, and drop all unnecessary language. Teachers are taught to use ‘minimum relevant words’ guided by seeing, or ‘reading the class.' LLT also encourages the use of silence and teaches teachers to use it skillfully.
