One Year Anniversary. A note from us. Reflecting back and looking ahead.

HAPPY ONE-YEAR, WPY!

One year is in the books for Wisconsin Power Yoga and so many things have changed around us this year. WPY had some ups and downs with our first year open. We worked on finding the best class times and package options, which we hope to have settled in on now. We participated in our first Mindfulness Panel with the Elkhorn School District. We held a few Intro to Power Yoga Workshops. We welcomed two new teachers, Sam Endemann and Stephanie Bartz to the team. Now looking back, it all looks so different. We have grown, adapted, had some stumbles along with some successes. Even though many things look and feel quite different from one year ago, what has and will remain the same at WPY is our dedication to our yoga practice. We promise to continue to share this space, time, and practice with you all.

Everything is always changing. We all know this about life, but sometimes it can be hard to see in the moment. And it is really highlighted when we reflect back. What I have experienced with yoga, and continue to work towards, is the practice of flowing with this ever changing life. To be there for the pleasant and the unpleasant. And let’s be honest, it is difficult to be fully aware in each moment. It’s a simple task, but it’s difficult to achieve. This is why Wisconsin Power Yoga is so much more than just a yoga studio. To me it is not just a “great work out.” But it is my time to practice being present with my attention, thoughts, and feelings. To not just numb these experiences out with distractions but to let it all come and then go again. To practice using my breath as a way to feel calm and still through it all. To remember that the stressful thoughts and feelings are not my true self. I will always be grateful for WPY and all of you for joining us along the way.

We are beyond thrilled to be starting our second year operating Wisconsin Power Yoga! Thank you to everyone who has supported or attended a class with us. We look forward to many more years sharing and growing with you all!

Sincerely, Molly Elsbury.

Even though we have been teaching in Burlington for longer than a year, this past year in our WPY studio has felt the most rewarding. If I haven’t said this enough, thank you. Without all of you coming to sweat with us, WPY wouldn’t be where it is today.

From day one, Molly and I have continuously pushed each other to grow as teachers, together and individually. Starting WPY in a family-owned garage taught us a lot but I think the biggest lesson it taught me was gratitude. For example, garage-classes during the summer were naturally hot, while winters we had to run space heaters hours before class to get it remotely warm, THEN covid hit. We tried recording classes and then moved to teaching on the Veteran’s Terrace patio during summer months. In the past year, we started with barriers, installed a state-of-the-art HVAC system with air scrubbers that purify the air (super beneficial especially during covid) and finished the year with adding in-floor heat. Now, our heat is continuously HOT allowing us the breath, sweat and reset with all of you. We’ve grown a lot from our tiny garage but our classes have, for the most part, stayed consistent. That is what I truly love about our practice. You know what you’re going to get, a sweaty practice that is going to push you mentally and physically.

We take our practice seriously and are thankful we can share it with all of you. Thank you for rolling with the changes the past year and we cannot wait to see what the next year brings.

Happy Sweating, Aimee Bielinski
