NORTHWOODS RECHARGE

NOVEMBER 7 - 10, 2024

If there is one thing we can be sure of is that yoga offers us a way of life that is more transformational than just a 60-minute yoga class. It’s great that a yoga class gives us more flexibility, more strength, a feeling of calm and a sense of relaxation – but the real gift of yoga is to carry the tools that we practice on our mat, into our daily lives. That is where Northwoods Recharge comes into play. Throughout this retreat, you will not just “do” yoga but you will learn how to live and breathe it off of your mat. From the fundamentals of ethical living to the purpose of meditation, you will leave this retreat having a better understanding of integrating these tools that we teach during class into your everyday life. As your teachers, we understand these skills may not be intrinsic, therefore we will support you by guiding with discipline, consistency and instant forgiveness.

When you learn how to become aware, you begin to live life versus life living you. This is a completely different way of being.

Yoga means “union, harness or to join” and we will be giving you the ingredients all weekend long to unite your body, mind and spirit to a place where you can confidently call home. Unless we wake up to our habits, this connection can and will be severely interrupted with technology, the main culprit being our smartphones. To enhance your ability to recharge your awareness, this retreat will incorporate a “digital detox” day, where we forgo all technology, become more aware with what we are doing, how we do it, while we do it. Learning this positive habit around technology can help strengthen your concentration on the present moment and improve your overall physical health.

One of the best byproducts from a vacation is a connection to the most vital parts of yourself. Whether that be connection with family, time, nature, or simply yourSelf, a vacation seems to provide you with an outcome of space for re-connection and recharge. This retreat will be more than a vacation. It will be an integral place for you to wake up to the habits that don’t serve you and consciously to live a more fruitful life. We will be integrating space, non-reactive doing and the art of stillness all weekend long to bring you to a point of ultimate awareness around your life. Be prepared to finally understand how yoga really works.

RETREAT HOSTS

ABOUT AIMEE

I’ve been practicing yoga for over a decade and initially felt motivated for its physical benefits. I was captivated by the feeling of endorphins after class but ultimately disappointed when all of my stress levels returned hours later. I’d attend daily hot yoga classes (7x/week), trying to find the “cure” and feel good. With the routine of signing up for class, I had an inclining that there was something more to yoga that just a “good workout”.

After teaching this breath-focused style of yoga, I have learned how to integrate yoga on and off of my mat. I don’t attend classes as much but I can confidentially say that I practice the principles we teach every single day. Not only has this improved my relationships with others and myself, but it has shown me a different way of living. When I finally realized that I didn’t have to believe every single thought running through my mind, I felt free. Free from crippling judgements for myself and others. Free from completely separating myself from true love for all things. This is a gift worth guiding and paying forward with others in our community.

I’m genuinely blessed to be able to teach this effective style of yoga at Wisconsin Power Yoga.

ABOUT STEPHANIE

My journey with yoga has been an ongoing labor of love and patience.  I started practicing casually almost 20 years ago.  I saw the asanas as something to aspire to. It was the partnership of movement and flow that drew me in. I quickly fell in love with the way I felt on my mat. The strength I was growing and the connection with my body was so special, but there was always something missing… I could never quite put my finger on it. It wasn’t until I found Wisconsin Power Yoga, that the final piece of my yoga puzzle was found. Mindfulness.

At WPY, yoga became so much more than movement and strength.  Yoga turned into safety, respite and the very place I could reconnect with my own feelings.  Over the last 2+ years, my love for yoga has grown infinitely.  It’s one of my greatest privileges to share this practice with students.  The benefits of meditation and mindful movement are a great act of self-love.  It is one of my greatest privileges to share space and breath with this beautiful community.
